With digital-savvy employees now entering the workplace with clear expectations around mobile capabilities and working practices, many business leaders are failing to keep pace and put the right technology in place to enhance productivity and profitability. In response to these, and other significant changes in the role of technology in the workplace, the inaugural Business Breakthrough Event aims to bring together vendors, resellers, analysts and end users to discuss and explore the impact of unified communications and collaboration tools on today's enterprise.

Hosted by global market research company Wainhouse Research, in partnership with unified communications specialist Imago Group, The Business Breakthrough Event will take place on Thursday 29 May at The Brewery, London, with a sister event taking place in Paris on 3 June. Centred around a strong conference agenda, high profile speakers from industry leaders including Barco, Biamp Systems, PGi, Polycom, Smart Technologies and Vidyo, as well as end user organisations including Neopost and Thomson Reuters, will guide delegates through the changing role of technology and visual communications in the enterprise.

Wayne Mason, event director and head of group products and marketing at Imago Group, comments: "New entrants into today's workplace have grown up with technology and with that comes a certain mind set and expectations. However, despite mobile communications and collaboration tools becoming more commonplace in the business environment, many business leaders are failing to exploit them fully and enable their employees to work more efficiently, and crucially, more cost effectively. The Business Breakthrough Event aims to give end users insight and confidence into the areas of collaboration and video conferencing technologies that are available today to help them achieve these goals."

Andrew W. Davis, senior partner and co-founder at Wainhouse Research, adds: "Our own research has shown the significant role played by mobile technologies and social media interaction – including Skype and Facebook – within the younger workforce. This is leading to a clear divide within the workplace between digital natives and digital immigrants: those who are completely at ease with technology due to the environment in which they've grown up, versus those who have learnt to adapt from what they already know. The Business Breakthrough Event will help businesses close this gap by giving senior executives insight and understanding into how they can benefit from technology and adapt to cultural shifts that are changing the competitive landscape, whilst creating profitability potential for all."

In addition to a strong conference and speaker line-up, the 2014 Business Breakthrough Event, will also feature hands-on exposure to the latest solutions in the areas of video conferencing and unified communications, with an exhibition hall giving attendees the opportunity to meet and speak directly with some of the world's leading technology suppliers and industry experts.
