Intermec adds two high-performance scanners to data capture portfolio

Intermec, Inc. has announced two new innovative scanning solutions – the SF61B, a compact wireless mobility scanner optimised for distribution center (DC), transportation and logistics, field service and healthcare operations, and the SR31T – a robust tethered scanner for general purpose and light industrial environments. Both scanners feature premium performance and the quickest time-to-read 2D imaging technology in their class, enabling fast and dependable data collection.

SF61B – Performance Scanning for the Mobile Worker

The SF61B is a uniquely-designed wireless mobility scanner ideal for users that require uncompromised scanning performance, long battery life and ruggedness in a compact form factor similar to a small flashlight.  Unlike traditional gun-shaped scanners that are not designed for workers on the go, the SF61B features a magnetic attach/release system that allows the device to be quickly accessed or securely stowed away as needed — enhancing worker agility, safety and efficiency. Additionally, with integrated Bluetooth™ wireless, the SF61B is a perfect companion to Android®, iOS®, and Windows Mobile® tablets and smartphones already deployed in field service, customer service, or mobile point-of-sale applications. Also available as a healthcare-optimised model, the SF61HC features a disinfectant-ready housing optimal for point of care, patient admissions, medicine dispensing, food service and other hygiene-sensitive environments.

Despite its small size, the SF61B offers full-size scanning performance. Integrated Intermec EA30/31 scan engines deliver extreme motion tolerance (up to 500 in/sec) for hassle-free scans, and all models include a Bluetooth™ Class 1 radio providing up to 100 meters (325 feet) of wireless range. All of this comes with no compromise to battery performance; the SF61B features a user-replaceable battery capable of lasting well beyond a full eight hour shift, even in scan-intensive applications. Tested to withstand repeated drops to concrete from 2 meters (6.5 feet) and rated IP65, the SF61B is a truly rugged device.

SR31T – Redefining the Mid-Range Scanner Class

The SR31T tethered handheld scanner provides premium performance, durability and ease of use for a wide variety of scan-intensive applications and was designed to maximise user productivity. Ready to address scanning needs now and into the future, the SR31T can read all common 1D, PDF, 2D and postal symbologies—and can also reliably read codes from smartphones, tablets, or computer displays. Rated IP53 and built to withstand 26 drops from 1.8 meters (6 feet), the SR31T is ideal for retail, office and light industrial environments. Area imager versions integrate the same EA30/31 scan engines for a level of scanning speed and responsiveness historically found in only the fastest laser scanners. The SR31T also features distinctive design elements that add to its versatility, including an over-sized LED light pipe on the scanner head to provide bright 360-degree feedback in any lighting condition.

Similar to the SF61B, the SR31T also is available in a disinfectant-ready healthcare model that withstands the harmful effects of common cleaning agents used in healthcare.
