Business leaders need to use IT effectively to stay ahead in the game, and IT leaders need to bring new solutions for businesses to innovate and stay relevant. Smart business and technology—and how their integration can help enterprises transform—will be the focus at ISACA's INSIGHTS 2013 conference, to be held 10-12 June 2013, at the Estrel Berlin Hotel in Berlin, Germany.

INSIGHTS was developed in 2011 as the premier event uniquely designed for IT and business leaders. This conference addresses topics at a strategic level, focused on the effective integration of business and technology within organizations. The program consists of two-and-a-half days of thought-provoking sessions and interactive panels and interviews, where business and IT leaders meet, share ideas, and confront issues head-on in open discussions with the audience.

"The theme for this year's INSIGHTS is Smart IT + Smart Business = A Smart Future, with specific focus on how the business and IT can partner more effectively and efficiently to optimize performance and return proper and significant value to the enterprise," said Marc Vael, CISA, CISM, CGEIT, CISSP, international vice president at ISACA, and chief audit executive at Smals. "We found that the format of this conference is extremely effective in providing opportunities for attendees to actively participate with top experts in every session, debate and conversation; share experiences; engage in high-value networking; and take away new, actionable perspectives for themselves and their organizations."

INSIGHTS 2013's opening keynote presenter will be Dr. Herman Konings, futurist and founder of nXt and Opus X, think tanks for trends and forecasting. Konings will discuss the century of the entangled consumer and global trends influencing different generations, business-to-business marketing and other areas of the enterprise. The closing keynote presenter will be Egidio (Edge) Zarrella, senior advisory partner with KPMG China. With specializations in business and IT strategy transformation, outsourcing and offshoring, Zarella will help participants navigate through future complexity and change.

INSIGHTS sessions will include Emerging Privacy and Data Protection, Big Data (Big Pain or Big Opportunity?), Information Security—Keeping up with the Business, Future of Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, Forensic Fraud Detection, eRetail and eHealthcare. Discussions will be led by top experts from global enterprises including CA, Cloud Security Alliance, Deutsche Post/DHL, EDPS, Elsevier, ENISA, IBM, INTUG, KPMG, Microsoft, News International Corp., Pfizer, SWIFT, TurkCell, Visa/MasterCard and WalMart, among many others.

"Berlin is a very fitting setting for this unique event—it is a historic and cultural world city, with a focus on technology innovation as it strives to become a 'smart city' for its citizens and enterprises," said Vael. "In Berlin, colleges, research establishments, technology centers and commercial enterprises are closely connected with each other, which enables easy knowledge and technology sharing. The success of this underscores the effectiveness of merging business and IT to deliver value to all stakeholders."
