Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton has launched the Eaton RP Series, a new high-performance electronics enclosure system optimised to house IT equipment in large, medium and small data centres. The RP Series is available in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and addresses the needs of IT managers and system integrators for modern, efficient and robust rack systems. The new enclosures complement the full range of Eaton's power quality products, which is comprised of highly efficient Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPSs), enclosure Power Distribution Units (ePDUs), and advanced power management and protection software for IT systems and virtualised environments.

The Eaton RP Series cabinets come in 42U and 48U heights and feature integrated airflow management capabilities which virtually eliminate air leakage to support data centre professionals in achieving the best possible Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and operating efficiency. The specially designed enclosures help guide cool air directly to the enclosed IT equipment maximising the cooling effect, minimising energy cost and extending equipment life. Operating as an integral element of an airflow containment system, the RP Series racks can help reduce energy usage by as much as 35% when compared to non-contained systems.

Designed with flexibility and ease of use in mind, Eaton's RP Series enclosures offer a wide range of cable, storage and airflow management accessories. Subsequently, the enclosures are capable of accommodating large quantities of cabling in an organised fashion, allowing for maximum airflow and simplified access to equipment. Other features include easily adjustable pre-marked mounting rails; high-flow 75% perforated front and split rear doors; and pre-installed grounding wires and starter kits - all contributing to a simple and fast rack installation.

The RP Series racks can be individually configured to meet the specific needs of any data centre. In addition, Eaton offers two standard, pre-configured rack assemblies for fast, ex-stock delivery to the IT channel. The first configuration is ideal for stand-alone applications, such as network closets and small data rooms, and includes sturdy casters and lockable side panels for full security. The second configuration is intended for multiple-rack row or pod configurations. It is equipped with side dividers for optimised airflow and can be fitted with aesthetic end-of-row side panels. All racks have robust welded frames to maintain structural integrity and can support a load of 1,000kg.

"IT managers are increasingly focused on improving data centre energy usage and operating efficiency", said Steven Wechter, Eaton's Product Manager for IT racks. "Many already understand that installing smart, well designed and hygienic racks is an important part of a highly efficient data centre. We are very pleased that our RP Series can help customers save energy and, at the same time, provide a system that is adaptable and scalable, which enables our customers to keep pace with the ever changing demands of the IT environment."
