Varlink announces the launch of the Trimble Yuma 2 rugged tablet computer

Varlink, the York based mobile computing and data capture hardware specialist distributor, has announced the launch of the Trimble Yuma 2 Rugged Tablet Computer, a complete refresh of the original Yuma.

The friendly industrial design is thinner and lighter than other rugged computer products, making it ideal for applications in construction, transportation, public safety, field service, forestry, utilities, mapping and any other outdoor or service-related industry where mobility is essential.

As a fully functional field computer, the Yuma 2 offers a Microsoft Windows 7 professional operating system and 4 GB of DDR3 DRAM, a 64GB solid state drive and a dual battery with up to 8 hours of typical run-time, optimising operation out in the field.

Unlike consumer grade tablets, the Yuma 2 is built rugged from the inside out, rated IP65 and tested to MIL-STD-810G. This the device also features a 7" Gorilla® Glass panel to protect the display from the harsh outdoor elements.

The integrated 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and an LED flash captures images and videos easily and effectively, out in the field accurate 2-4m GPS receiver paired with the camera software can automatically add a time and location stamp to any data collected. Connection to a central database can then be achieved through the integrated Bluetooth, Wi-Fi an optional dual-mode GSM or CDMA 3.75G cellular data modules, allowing users to manage their workflow no matter where they are located.
