Varlink, the York based mobile computing and data capture hardware distributor, is supporting Portsmith Technologies in the promotion of its range of communications accessories for mobile computing applications.
The Portsmith range of accessories includes rugged, industrial-class Cradles and External Adapters. Portsmith Cradles are single slot with spare battery charging, working with USB, Ethernet or Modem. External Adapters allow standard USB handheld devices to connect to Ethernet or Modem, offering high quality cost effective solutions for data capture applications in retail, logistics, warehousing, transportation and many more. Whilst providing a simple and reliable connection between handheld devices and the installed networking technology, Portsmith Cradles and Adapters also deliver performance advantages over wireless connections and reduce security concerns when compared with wireless connectivity options.

Designed to support Motorola devices, Portsmith cradles are included in the Motorola Independent Hardware Vendor (IHV) programme and are validated by Motorola to work with a wide range of their products. Compatible models include the following models: Motorola MC55, MC65, MC70, MC75, MC3000, MC3100, MC9000 and MC9100.
Portsmith Ethernet cradles can be custom designed for other brands of mobile computing hardware and the company is currently in discussions with several brands that are distributed by Varlink.
