Conseal signs distribution agreement with Blue Solutions

Conseal Security, the solutions provider for securing data on the move, has signed an agreement with consultancy-led software distributor Blue Solutions to grow its SMB channel community and increase sales of its removable storage device, USB and CD/DVD security products. The range is claimed to be ideally suited to protect data held by workers in healthcare, education, legal, financial services and other industry sectors where critical data needs to be securely accessible on the move.

Conseal's flagship product, Conseal Server, provides central management of removable storage devices, such as USB sticks, external hard drives or flash drives. IT administrators can control where and when the devices can be used, and even remotely wipe them if they are lost or stolen. The SMB edition can protect 10-50 devices and the Enterprise edition can support 50-1000+ devices.

The market for protecting critical data is strong due to the high security risk factors caused by human error. In March 2012, it was reported that an employee of the nuclear safety watchdog had lost a USB flash drive containing a document relating to a recent 'stress test' of a nuclear power station based in Hartlepool. Similarly, in January 2012, it was reported that Praxis Care Limited lost a memory stick containing personal information relating to 107 Isle of Man residents and 53 individuals from Northern Ireland. Some of the information was sensitive and related to individuals' care and mental health.

"Using encryption alone for removable storage devices is a pretty weak strategy and passwords are vulnerable to attack, particularly if left in the hands of users to implement and enforce," says Tom Colvin, Chief Technology Officer, Conseal Security. "Conseal puts the control back in the hands of IT and offers administrators the chance to remotely wipe devices to protect sensitive information. We're helping businesses to take better precautions. Importantly, legislation will only go in one direction and it will become better policed. We are already seeing IT teams and company management held responsible for data loss, not just individuals on the coal-face. Businesses need to act now."

The agreement with Blue Solutions follows the launch of Conseal's reseller partner programme at the end of 2011. Blue Solutions will now support the 10-15 resellers already recruited to the programme.

Resellers looking to expand their portfolios with a simple to set up, easy to try, straightforward to use product can benefit from recurring revenue, and significant margin. Resellers can obtain the products via a simple downloadable license and installation key over email from Blue Solutions.

Colvin adds: "We are working with Blue Solutions' in-house products experts and team of passionate staff to actively recruit new resellers, incentivise, train and support them long-term." Blue Solutions will offer resellers Not For Resale "try before you buy" opportunities. It will provide training webinars, on-demand demos, training videos and marketing collateral for resellers to take out to end-user customers.
