Eurotech subsidiary Parvus has announced support for Wind River's VxWorks Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) across its entire rugged MIL/COTS DuraCOR mission computer product line, which includes the DuraCOR 810-Duo, DuraCOR 810, DuraCOR 820 and DuraCOR 830. The RTOS that supports over one billion embedded systems worldwide, VxWorks is increasingly used by aerospace and military prime contractors where deterministic, high performance operation is required. Parvus now extends VxWorks support to all of its MIL-qualified x86-architecture Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) DuraCOR subsystems to reduce time to deployment and integration costs for its customers. Parvus is part of the Eurotech Group, which is a Wind River Strategic Hardware Partner.

Parvus has developed Board Support Packages (BSPs) for VxWorks 6.8 to support Intel CoreT 2 Duo, Intel Pentium M, and Intel AtomT-based DuraCOR mission computer products. These BSPs were made using Wind River's Workbench 3.2 development environment. Parvus application and design engineering teams can tailor pre-integrated subsystems with VxWorks to support particular program requirements, such as application-specific I/O interfaces. With pre-integrated subsystems, customers reduce their learning curve and risk, leverage open-architecture, modular PC104 hardware, and extend base functionality to maximize use of COTS content.

"While Parvus has supported VxWorks customer requirements for several years, it has only been on a project-by-project or board-level basis," said Parvus VP of Sales and Marketing Dusty Kramer, "Now with our subsystem-level support of VxWorks, Parvus is demonstrating its commitment to our military and aerospace customers by augmenting our DuraCOR computing offerings to support high performance, real time operation system requirements."

Parvus' DuraCOR Vehicle Mission Computer platform is a COTS computing subsystem featuring modular, open-architecture and MIL-STD qualified designs-perfect for Size, Weight and Power (SWaP)-constrained C4ISR technology refresh and platform upgrade programs. These highly reliable, DuraCOR mission computers are routinely deployed under thermal, shock and vibration extremes onboard unmanned and manned aircraft, ground vehicles, and maritime platforms.
