Fujitsu is planning to use the launch of its next-generation Eternus DX family of RAID solutions to accelerate its storage sales through the channel. Having seen significant growth throughout last year and during the first half of 2011, Fujitsu plans to build on this platform with the new family of products.

With performance improvements of up to 30%, improved scalability and investment protection, enhanced support for virtualised environments, automated tiering, improved connectivity and competitive pricing, the Eternus DX S2 range is even more attractive for end-user customers and even easier for resellers to sell, says Sean Haffey, storage business manager at Fujitsu UK & Ireland.

"The new S2 generation puts Eternus even further ahead of the competition. Eternus is now, without any question, the most attractive product on the block extraordinarily fast and flexible, offering great price/performance and tremendous flexibility and scalability. For our Select Partners, it represents a massive opportunity to build on the platform we've already established in this market."

With the new Eternus DX S2 range, Fujitsu has an outstanding storage proposition for channel partners to take to their customers. The company is eager to sign-up additional resellers as SELECT Storage Specialist partners, says Haffey.

"The Eternus DX S2 has undeniable appeal to any medium and large-sized organisation looking to provide efficient and effective storage for virtualised environments or fast, reliable disk systems that will provide solid support for business contingency and DR plans. These are the hot topics for enterprises when it comes to storage and resellers can address the pain points of customers very directly with the new Eternus DX S2 range. We're very excited about the prospects for this range in the second half of this year and by engaging on the Select programme and qualifying as a Select Expert in Storage Infrastructures, resellers can get onto the fast-track to success with Fujitsu in the storage market.

Eternus already led the way in terms of performance and the S2 generation is up to 30% faster, putting Fujitsu even further ahead of the competition. For scalability it is unrivalled too; with the S2 range you can start with a 12-disk system and scale right up an 800 disk system. Disk arrays can simply be upgraded with no need for complex migrations. The new S2 solutions also come with additional support for virtualised environments and improved connectivity with support for 10Gbps iSCSI and Fibre Channel over Ethernet.

In addition, the Eternus DX S2 series will come with automated tiering (from Q4), which enables data to be moved automatically between solid state drives,  serial-attached SCSI (SAS) and Nearline SAS (NL-SAS) drives, reducing the burden of managing disk performance on administrators and reducing costs.

Demand for Fujitsu Eternus disk arrays has been accelerating rapidly over the past year. One recent analysis of the UK total storage market showed that Fujitsu's sales grew by more than four times the market rate during 2010.

Fujitsu Eternus disk systems, when deployed alongside Fujitsu Primergy servers, provide the ideal platform for the Fujitsu Dynamic Infrastructure propositions, through which the company supports partners by providing the pre-sales advice, installation and professional services as part of a total solutions offering.
