Psion PLC has announced that Warok GmbH in Germany has placed an order for 1,000 units of the new Psion EP10 rugged handheld computer following unprecedented customer interest. The EP10 PDA is on schedule to begin shipments within the first half of 2011 with larger volumes planned for the second half of 2011.

"The live demonstrations of the EP10 at recent shows resonated well with our customers and even led to some initial orders. This, together with the impressive functionality and capabilities of the PDA, prompted us to order 1,000 units," said Dominik Rotzinger, Director of Warok GmbH. "We believe that this robust Psion device will become one of the most important products for ourselves and our customers and this deal gives us the ability to immediately deliver the first orders as well as meeting future demands quickly."

EP10 - The new Psion 'shooting star'
In common with the Omnii XT10, the new, cost-effective and robust Psion EP10 was developed on the principles of Open Source Mobility (OSM). Thanks to its compact design, device can be used anywhere where people have mobile access to data, such as courier drivers, service technicians or agents.

Equipped with a OMAP3 processor from Texas Instruments, the robust EP10 offers a 3.7 inch display as well as mobile communication standards, such as 3G, CDMA, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and GSM HSPA +. The Psion EP10 is a strategic extension of the company's range of mobile business devices, with the extensive capabilities of high-end PDAs, and also extreme robustness and cost effectiveness. In addition, the new EP10 is equipped with interactive sensors, such as light, motion and acceleration sensors as well as a digital compass.

"We're delighted with the EP10 commitment from Warok GmbH as well as the trust placed in Psion," added Jrgen Heim, Managing Director of Psion Germany. "This proves once again that with our development strategy of open innovation and the resulting products, such as the Omnii XT10 and EP10, we're really changing the market."
