Citizen Systems Europe, the manufacturer of label, barcode, portable and POS printers, has launched its latest range of industrial desktop printers designed to provide simple, cost effective and high quality label printing. The new CL-S521, CL-S621 and CL-S631 printers are supplied as standard with both Zebra and Datamax emulations on board for maximum flexibility and easy integration.

The printers' Cross-Emulation feature automatically detects the code being sent to it and switches the printer from Datamax to Zebra emulation or vice-versa, making them fully compatible and easy to incorporate into an existing application or network. Additionally, an integrated BASIC interpreter comes as standard, without the additional cost of a licence fee, to allow programs to be written and stored in the printer. This makes it ideal for integration within specialist environments or for operation in stand-alone applications where connection to a PC is not needed.

The direct thermal CL-S521 prints at up to six inches per second, while the CL-S621 is thermal transfer using industry standard 360 metre ribbons on 1 inch cores, inside or outside wound, eliminating the need to stock specialist ribbon sizes. 300 dpi versions are available with the CL-S631 being a stocked item and the direct thermal CL-S531 available as a dealer upgrade.

With 16Mb of RAM and 4Mb of flash, there is plenty of space to store a range of logos, fonts and BASIC programs. Serial and USB interfaces are supplied as standard, with the options to add Parallel, Ethernet and Wireless LAN options, to provide remote control, configuration and monitoring of each printer.

As with all of Citizen's printers, the CL-S521 and 621 are all backed by the company's excellent customer support service and the option to extend the warranty to three or five years. They feature rugged all-metal mechanisms, internal mains supply for reliability and a quick release plate for easily cleaning and servicing.

The new models also take advantage of Citizen's proven Hi-Open case, which opens vertically to minimise the footprint of the printers and enhanced media sensors for an improved user experience. Furthermore, the printers feature Citizen's Hi-Lift metal mechanism and the innovative ARCP anti-wrinkle and automatic tensioning system for quick and trouble free ribbon loading.
