Ingram Micro DC/POS division shoots up the sales leagues

Ingram Micro reports that, so far in 2010, vendors Motorola Enterprise Mobility Solutions and Zebra Technologies count the UK arm of IM DC/POS as their fastest-growing distributor in Europe. The distributor also reports that it is mobile computer vendor Psion Teklogixs largest UK distributor, while Datalogic Scanning is also seeing strong growth. Mark Cheetham, head of IM DC/POS in the UK and Ireland, comments that the success of Ingram Micro can be put down to a number of strengths; from logistical excellence to financial strength. However, the in-depth specialist knowledge and sheer hard work of a team that has practically grown up with these technologies are what really gives us the edge, he said.

Another development was the centralisation, late last year, of all the divisions European inventory in IMs state-of-the-art distribution centre in Germany. Our stock profile has increased massively, continued Cheetham. Our resellers not only see much greater stock availability, but order tracking is also improved; its an awesome facility.

The divisions UK vendor portfolio has been enhanced in recent months by names such as Baracoda, CognitiveTPG, Datamax-ONeil, J2 and Socket Mobile. While we work with the established resellers of auto ID, data capture, enterprise mobility and POS solutions, we also work with Ingram Micros broadline customer base, continued Cheetham. We enable mainstream resellers to extend their offering into our adjacent technologies; this brings new application areas and incremental business to our vendors. For vendors and customers alike, it pays to work with the specialists.

About Ingram Micro As a vital link in the technology value chain, Ingram Micro creates sales and profitability opportunities for vendors and resellers through marketing programmes, outsourced logistics services, technical support, financial services, and product aggregation and distribution. The company serves more than 150 countries and is the only global broad-based IT distributor with operations in Asia.
