Datalogic Mobile and STD Retail have entered into a new strategic partnership. STD Retails SPEDI software will now be marketed hand-in-hand with Datalogic Mobiles range of hand held terminals.

Colin Pike, UK Country Manager for Datalogic Mobile commented: We are extremely pleased to be working with STD Retail.  Their SPEDI software has established itself as a market leading solution for the convenience store and independent retail sector. This is evident in deployments at Nisa Todays, Costcutter, Londis, Palmer & Harvey and many other independent retailers. In particular, we have been very impressed by the close relationship and interaction STD Retail has developed with their customer community over the last 25 years. This has resulted in solutions which not only take into account the current needs and legislation of this market but is also sufficiently forward thinking to embrace planned future changes. SPEDI provides real innovation in electronic ordering and stock taking solutions which is fully backed up by their extensive UK dealer network.

STD Retails MD, David Mendus, commented: We identified a strong need to provide a more cost effective hand held terminal for our customers. After an extensive search and evaluation we decided to standardise our development around the Datalogic Memor.  We were attracted to the exceptional price positioning of this device which now brings the use of handheld terminals well within the grasp of the smallest of independent retailers whilst offering significant commercial benefits.  We were also impressed by the Datalogic Memors compact design, clarity of display, user friendliness and ability to be operated with one hand. The deployment of over 6,000 Datalogic Memors at the Co-op Group already has demonstrated a strong acceptance of the product within the convenience store market.

Mendus continues Datalogic Mobiles extensive range and common development platform also means that SPEDI software can be seamlessly deployed onto their alternative mobile devices where, from time to time, bigger displays and/or larger keypad formats are customer requirements.
