Citizen launches compact high volume logistics printer

A high performance, entry level printer looks set to cut the cost of producing labels in both transport and logistics applications. 

Developed and manufactured by Citizen Systems Europe, the leading supplier of bar code and labelling equipment, the new CL-S700DT printer incorporates a wide range of features yet will be available at extremely competitive prices typically up to 30% less than similarly specified machines.

The new CL-S700DT will form part of Citizens existing family of CL-S700 bar code and labels printers, which includes both thermal transfer and direct thermal printers.  The CL-S700DT is a direct thermal model, which makes it ideal for use in areas such as logistics, warehousing or courier despatch.  The new machine is, however, capable of producing excellent quality definition from an advanced design of printhead, with an output of 203dpi at 8dots/mm running at speeds of up to 175mm/sec (7 in/sec).

In common with other printers in the range, the CL-S700DT incorporates a robust metal chassis and heavy duty metal case as standard, capable of withstanding rigorous use over extended periods for optimum reliability.  Uniquely, Citizen has developed a Hi-Open case, which lifts vertically and is hinged at the rear, enabling media to be changed without moving the printer and all normal settings to be adjusted easily from the front of the machine.  This has the advantage of significantly reducing the overall footprint and allows the printer to be positioned in relatively narrow spaces.

The unique Hi-Lift printer mechanism, combined with a simplified media feed path, enables labels to be changed in around ten seconds, which is up to ten times faster than competing printers. 

Similarly, system setup and operation is quick and simple, with all control switches and a high contrast LCD being mounted on the front panel.  This clearly shows operating status and allows minor adjustments to be made, such as switching between the on-board Zebra and Datamax emulations.

Each machine is supplied with USB and RS232 interfaces as standard, with the option of wireless, Ethernet and parallel connections.   CL-S700DT are also bundled with Bartender Ultralight label design software, have a two year warranty and are backed by Citizens global customer support services.
