Software developers MMCC Consultants have developed a new stock inventory and asset management package for handheld devices that can be installed without the need for a completely new back office system. The product is ideal for use in applications such as industrial warehouses offering a fast and easy approach to stock management.
The new software has the ability to integrate with the customers current systems avoiding the expense of replacing the entire stock control system. It can also be installed onto any handheld device the customer may currently be using that is running either Windows Mobile or Windows CE.
The upheaval of a companys entire software package can be a real logistical nightmare, said Sami Saoudi, Operations Director of Milton Keynes based MMCC. This new application can interface with a companys existing system and thats a major benefit, especially when budgets are being squeezed.
The software is able to track and locate products simply by entering the operators name and location within the warehouse into the mobile device. The barcode is then scanned and the quantity of that product entered alongside. Once the inventory is complete the software will create a file and store the information in a SQL server compact database, accessible from the companys back office system.
Sami continued, These days, having staff spend hours checking stock on a spreadsheet is no longer an economically viable option, both in terms of cost and accuracy. The new software weve developed will make stock inventory much faster and more reliable with less chance of human error.
Although the software is an off-the-shelf product it can be adapted by MMCC to suit the needs of almost any business, making it a feasible and affordable proposition, even for smaller companies.
The inventory package, which is yet to be named, is supplied for an annual licence fee of 1000 per handheld device and includes full product support from MMCC.
