Varlink, the York based mobile computing and data capture specialist distributor, has introduced two new XM Series rugged mobile computers from Janam: the XM66 (with Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1) and the XM60+ (with Microsoft Windows CE 5.0).

With these two new Windows devices, Janam is the first manufacturer to bring the powerful Freescale i.MX31 ARM11 processor and double data rate (DDR) memory to the rugged mobile computing space, resulting in computing performance that significantly outperforms the competition. The XM Series handhelds feature Summits embedded Wi-Fi radio with unparalleled range, security, network performance and radio control. The XM Series also delivers Hi-Speed USB 2.0 (40x faster throughput than competitive devices), serial output, a user-accessible microSD card slot and increased battery capacity.

Varlink is now stocking the new handhelds which also deliver a full 3.5 colour display, advanced barcode scanning, long battery life and 128MB double data rate SDRAM and 128 NAND Flash ROM. The devices withstand multiple 1.2m drops to concrete and are IP54 rated. The XM65 is available in the product line up, and all three XM Series devices are fully compatible with Janams line of accessories, which allows customers to build on existing technology investments.

Sarah Esders, Varlink Janam Marketing Executive, commented Since we added Janam devices to our product portfolio in 2007, the products have been extremely well received by our reseller base. The interest generated by the Janam Win CE and Mobile handhelds continues to grow and we are confident that these two new products will be equally attractive. Janam products offer Varlink resellers a great mix of functionality and outstanding price points. With a faster processor and additional memory, Janam continues to deliver the right features at the right price. The XM66 and XM60+ offer even more value and allow resellers to retain high levels of margins.

Varlink carries the full range of Janams rugged mobile computers to cover almost any barcode-based application within the four walls of the enterprise.
