Codegate has launched mobilevantage, a new mobile workforce management software solution for small businesses. The solution provides a vantage point previously normally available only to larger organisations enabling users to cost effectively monitor, measure and manage their mobile workforce. Ideal for mobile workforces ranging from 5 to around 50 field based workers, mobilevantage is available from as little as 1 per worker, per day.

Based on our proven mobileworker software already deployed by hundreds of enterprise users, mobilevantage will help small businesses reap the benefits of a mobility solution which were previously out of their reach, explained Terran Churcher, managing director at mobile data specialist Codegate. The mobile workforce visibility delivered by mobilevantage allows small businesses to increase efficiency and productivity, which in turn drives up profitability. At the same time, customer service and retention is improved through online traceability and reporting.

Churcher continued, Our experience has shown that the majority of small businesses manage their mobile field workers through mobile phone calls, manually completed job sheets that are prone to human error, e-mail and paper based spreadsheet systems. This leads to huge amounts of time being wasted when scheduling work appointments, re-keying information from job sheets and determining the status of existing jobs. Additionally there is no access to real-time information, such as the location of the most appropriate worker to meet an urgent customer enquiry, and small businesses believe that the only way to achieve this kind of visibility is through costly management systems. It was evident they needed help.

Having identified this gap in the marketplace, Codegate developed mobilevantage, an off the shelf, configurable mobile workforce management software solution which meets the individual requirements of small businesses.  mobilevantage runs on any Windows enabled mobile device, such as the Motorola range of rugged mobile computers and enterprise PDAs.

Although mobilevantage is an off the shelf solution, Codegate will, for a one off set up fee, carry out initial installation and configuration of the software to ensure that the solution is up and running and delivering fast return on investment (ROI). End users can then adapt mobilevantage in-house as their business requirements change.

Codegates extensive experience within the enterprise mobility space has led to the development of mobilevantages feature rich functionality which includes: job exporting and reporting, back end capture of job information, diary synchronisation and job scheduling, automatic date and time stamping, customisable drop down menus covering materials and parts, two way messaging, vehicle safety check and tracking, and optional satellite navigation.

Churcher added that companies can use the mobilevantage program via an Internet-enabled PC to allocate a job to a particular mobile worker; seamlessly pushing all relevant data out to the individuals handheld device. All data is date and time stamped, and essentially walks operators through what they are required to do, explained Churcher, who continued: mobilevantage also provides a customer accessible secure web portal so that companies are able to log into a secure web server to see the information that has been recorded by its mobile workers. It provides customisable lists of materials, parts or sub-parts that can then be customised for particular end customers. Job data can also be exported out to back-office systems to aid reporting, etc.

In addition, Churcher pointed out that mobilevantage can also prove invaluable through helping to manage vehicle safety; ensuring checks are undertaken when necessary. This means companies have a better chance of getting their corporate governance right including risk assessments undertaken in the field, he said. mobilevantage also comes with the option of satellite navigation, so mobile workers can arrive at the point of delivery quicker while also using less fuel en route. The system includes a two-way text messaging function, meaning companies can keep the cost of phone calls to a minimum. So, for the small business typically companies with a mobile workforce of between 5 and 50 mobilevantage provides a highly cost-effective way or monitoring, measuring and managing mobile workers out in the field, concluded Churcher.
