Specialist manufacturer of integrated PC-based touchscreens, LCD touchscreen monitors and point-of-sale hardware to the retail, hospitality and leisure industries, J2 Retail Systems (J2), has entered into a partnership with Star POS South Africa (Pty) Limited (Star) for the exclusive distribution of its products in sub-Saharan Africa.

In what is a new geographic market for J2, Star is the sole distributor of the Micronics range of printer products.  Star has a strong reputation in the region as an established supplier to major corporates and to the reseller channel.

Explains Moray Boyd, co-founder and Managing Director of J2 Retail Systems: The South African market is very focused on leisure and hospitality through its extensive tourism industry.  The 2010 hosting of the Football World Cup will bring increased demand for point-of-sale systems in both these sectors and in retail.

The new partnership was negotiated by Christina Fielvard, J2s Business Development Director EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa). We have been impressed by the professional nature of Stars activities in Southern Africa and we believe that this new partnership will bring benefits to both parties as well as to the retail industry itself, she commented. Stars understanding of the local market bodes well for both companies going forward.

The range of products from J2 complements our other product ranges, as well as adding a new dimension to the solutions we offer into the local market, added Ernie Boardman, Managing Director of Star.  For some time we have been searching for this type of hardware and are excited about this new relationship.
