Worldwide Solutions has signed a partnership agreement with Psion Teklogix that will see Psions latest mobile computer, NEO, added to the portfolio of Auto ID solutions offered by a new company and website being launched by Worldwide in May called Worldwide Scanstore.
Steve Larder, who has recently joined Worldwide Scanstore as general manager, says this new operation will be focused on channel development and will operate alongside Worldwide Solutions, which will continue to have an end user focus on integrated wireless LAN, VoIP and Mobility solutions.
Scanstore is all about the distribution of auto ID scanning , mobility and printing products, says Steve. As part of this evolution we are partnering with Psion Teklogix to promote NEO to our channel.
The Scanstore website will have an integrated partner portal specific to each channel partner. They will be able to sign into their own areas to access stock and pricing information personalised to them.
We want to make it easy for our channel partners to come to a one stop shop to access our product portfolio, repair service, finance packages and a technical area that also links into Teknet - Psion Teklogix online, real time customer service system to access their manuals and technical knowledge base, says Steve.
Centrally located in the UK, Bromsgrove -based Worldwide Solutions is a leading value added distributor of Auto-ID products and services, which range from barcode data capture devices through to mobile application development and enterprise networking solutions. Operating since 1992, the company has provided data capture solutions and technical services to a large number of channel partners, businesses and local government across the UK and Ireland. Offering a broad product portfolio, supplying and providing support services, the companys reputation has been built upon strong technical support and customer service. The company has focused strongly on the retail auto ID market and has an established history with a number channel partners selling value added solutions, normally around technology such as e-cost software or in-store solutions to resellers.
The Scanstore brand will build on this, according to Steve, to create more intelligent systems for Scanstores channel partners via their own portal. He says: We have a number of channel partners that are winning business with retailers for applications such as in-store scanning, stock management, price mark downs, shelf edge labels and using hand helds for taking payment transactions as well as for warehousing and stockroom applications. When a company like Psion Teklogix brings out a product targeted at the retail market like NEO, the best way for them to penetrate the market and gain a good return is by partnering with a company already selling their application solutions to that space. We have that established portfolio of channel partners and think that NEO improves their proposition. Therefore, we can all grow our business by adding NEO to our portfolio.
Steve highlights NEOs key virtues of robustness, ergonomics, and the fact that many of the applications out there already run on the Windows CE 5 operating system NEO uses. He is also very impressed by the way Psion Teklogix operates. They have a very clear channel-only proposition, which gives us a lot of comfort. Marketing support, brand awareness and demand creation is all there. Its extremely important for us that the manufacturer is creating the opportunity for us to execute in the market.
Over the next 6 months Steve wants to position Scanstore as a leading player in the Auto-ID distribution market. He says: We will maximise our opportunities with the brands we carry and drastically extend our channel reach by engaging with new customers and new channel partners as well as maximising the revenue opportunities with our existing ones.
