Findel Direct, part of leading multi channel retailer Findel plc recently chose the Toronto Full Screen Terminal by Belgravium to provide them real time visibility of their recently redeveloped warehouse in Manchester.

Originally formed to sit alongside Express Gifts and the Kleeneze Distribution Network, Findel Direct have led the market in direct shopping providing personal shopping services to around 1.5m customers. Findels product ranges are extremely diverse, covering toys, clothing, gadgets, furniture, wedding favours, invitations and party wares. With the growth of online shopping, a large percentage of their sales come from the internet to include well known niche brands such as Letterbox, Confetti, I Want One of Those, The Cotswold Company and leading online sports store Kitbag.

In order to facilitate the rapid growth in internet sales, Findel recently redeveloped their Manchester warehouse facility.  The 500,000 sq ft state of the art distribution centre now distributes products from their Kitbag and Confetti stores whilst acting as an order centre for all of their internet brands. In order to cope with the incoming order rate, it was critical that Findel adopted IT infrastructure and equipment that would optimise the warehouse operation. With this strategic objective in mind, senior management selected the Belgravium state-of-the-art full screen Toronto 9000 Series mobile computer together with a warehouse management system from leading software providers DAI. The system was put in place to facilitate and provide full visibility of their picking operation for their online sports store, Kitbag. The fit for purpose full screen Toronto is particularly suitable for warehouse environments and was chosen as the ideal terminal to be mounted on their trolleys for use in their picking operation. The large, full screen display was perfect for Findel as it had the ability to display full picking lists and large quantities of information on one screen in order to speed up the picking process and meet the ever increasing demand.

The Toronto has been extremely well received and has already secured tangible operational improvements. The system looks set to help Findel secure the originally projected benefits derived from having a real time flow of critical management data and the consequent improvements in supply chain operations will benefit both the company and its clients.
