Toshiba TEC distributor Code Red Distribution has introduced the brand new B-SX600 600 dpi 4-inch thermal transfer label printer for high-performance and specialised label printing.

The B-SX600 600 dpi thermal label printer is purpose-built for 24/7 heavy duty in industrial manufacturing; electrical, wire and cable identification, health care, defence and transportation. A strong performer in the extremely high-demanding Japanese market, the B-SX600 600 dpi industrial printer is the domestic industrial standard for name plate printing. With a 1200 dpi micro step drive control, the positioning of the label can be easily and highly accurately controlled by using a feedback control system. The B-SX600 has a 0.3mm accuracy of the print position in the media feed direction and can print on a 3mm label or can peel off 10mm labels. A ribbon control mechanism prevents the ribbon tension to change, hence keeps the ribbon straight throughout.

The printer also has a perfect media centre alignment prevents an unbalanced contact of the print head with the media that may cause blurred prints at the media edges. Built around a 32-bit RISC processor for fast data transfers and with integrated 128MB SRAM onboard, the B-SX600 includes Microsoft Windows XP and 2000 printer drivers. Connectivity is assured with TCP-IP over Ethernet 10/100 and serial USB 2.0. The B-SX600 operability is world-class with intuitive user menus, easy supply loading and large LCD panel displays, tool-less maintenance and extremely easy set up. A number of safety features have also been engineered into the product; an interlock switch stops all printing activity when the cover is opened; users cannot touch moving parts such as the platen roller or the cutter unit. Also, the head cover is fitted with a damper mechanism to protect users from possible injuries.

Darren Wildman, Sales Director at Code Red Distribution says The B-SX600 is an excellent addition to the Toshiba TEC range. Dealers and end users will be familiar with the build quality and high performance of the TEC range and will discover a further enhancement to this in the shape of the B-SX600. Wildman continues 600dpi resolution is often seen as niche within the wider barcode printing market but TEC have managed to offer a printer that offers exceptional print quality on labels, tickets and tags at a very affordable price in fact, there is very little in the market to rival for price and performance.

The printer is officially launched to the UK market on 1st November 2008 but Code Red has already started taking orders for them. Wildman concludes the price point and TECs reputation has meant we are already seeing considerable interest in the product even before we have stock. I can only imagine this increasing once more resellers see the product themselves.
