BakBone Software, a leading provider of heterogeneous integrated data protection solutions, now offers NetVault: Report Manager Pro, an update to BakBone's NetVault: Report Manager solution.

The new version provides detailed backup log reports and advanced search capabilities, along with extensive monitoring and reporting for backup, disk space and Exchange. These capabilities are easy to use and can help keep storage costs to a minimum by providing immediate access to any level of detail required to manage data protection environments. NetVault: Report Manager Pro is tightly integrated with BakBone's flagship data protection solution NetVault Backup, offering a single view into storage operations, which can significantly reduce backup administration time.

"The new file data management options in NetVault: Report Manager Pro are more robust and allow us to do a higher-level analysis of data redundancy," said Martin Frankhouse, network manager, University of Detroit Mercy. "The ability to monitor bandwidth and I/O usage will help us modify our IT structure internally. I am also looking forward to the improved log reporting in NetVault: Report Manager Pro for faster access to data and more granular search capabilities."

The NetVault: Report Manager Pro suite includes many capabilities that integrate seamlessly into users' environments, including the following:

NetVault: Report Manager Pro for Backup (NRMB)
o Consolidates information from NetVault: Backup servers to create a single view into enterprise NetVault: Backup operations.
o Decreases backup administration time with extensive backup monitoring, reporting and search capabilities.
o Monitors backup tapes and drives with the ability to quickly identify any jobs that might be affected by media problems.

NetVault: Report Manager Pro for Disk Space (NRMD).
o Identifies unneeded and unprotected data, reclaimable disk space and duplicate files, enabling more efficient use of storage resources.
o Includes intelligent data management capabilities that enable users to archive, copy or delete files based on an NRMD report.
o Identifies data that no longer needs to be backed up and helps identify and solve storage administration problems before they become major issues.

NetVault: Report Manager Pro for Exchange (NRME).
o Decreases Exchange backup windows and improves recovery time by identifying key information such as large mailboxes or folders and high volume users by email quantity, amount of data and attachment types.
o Improves security and system efficiency by spotting dormant distribution lists and mailboxes while providing other vital space usage and traffic data.

Enterprise Management Associates senior analyst, Mike Karp, has been following storage solutions over the last 20 years, examining the trends and adoption of storage solutions by end users. "There is a large percentage of business data that is unmanaged," said Karp. "As companies try to learn how to more efficiently manage their information, IT departments are looking for solutions to simplify the management of their expanding data. BakBone's NetVault: Report Manager offers companies a solution to diagnose backup problems with greater simplicity and less time by providing a detailed, single view of backups. The detailed reports allow customers to quickly identify problems by troubleshooting potential issues in the data being backed up."

"BakBone understands that spending as little time as possible managing backups and recoveries is extremely important to our customers," said Jeff Drescher, vice president of Marketing, BakBone. "By providing key technologies that simplify data management, we help end users eliminate backup challenges and meet the growing demands in data protection that IT administrators face every day. With NetVault: Report Manager, IT administrators can easily monitor all of their data so they can investigate and resolve any issues before it affects their environments."
