Actor - Biljett/Kassa & Kontrollsystem i Sverige AB offers a ticketing and box office system for event organizers, using the Datalogic Memor and Datalogic Skorpio.
It has become more and more popular to reserve tickets via the Internet. Nowadays we reserve tickets for cinema, sporting events, theater, etc. all on-line. Actor - Biljett/Kassa & Kontrollsystem i Sverige AB offers a ticketing and box office system for event organizers, which they now have developed even further. In order to simplify the process for both organizers and users, it is now possible not only to reserve the tickets, but also to pay for them and to print them at home. This means the user can go directly to the event entrance without having to collect the tickets from an agent.
New Application
This is a completely new system. It was developed from the end of 2006 to the beginning of 2007. There are now five arenas connected to this system, two of which are Kulturhuset in Stockholm and Gvle IF. There are already 20 arenas waiting to have the system installed, and after that Actor is hoping for many more. Actor sells their system to event organizers as a ready-made solution. This means that the organizer can sell tickets via the Internet without having to handle the back office administration. The system is very cost-effective and helps even smaller organizers to be able to sell tickets on-line.
Mobile Computers Verify the Web Tickets
Quite simply, anyone can visit the arenas website, reserve their ticket and even choose where they want to sit, pay for and print the ticket, which contains a bar code. The person brings the web ticket to the entrance where it is checked with the help of a mobile computer; either a Datalogic Memor or a Datalogic Skorpio. The mobile computer communicates through WLAN with Actors entrance system and indicates whether the ticket is valid or not. It is also possible to come to the entrance without the ticket and instead only bring the control number. In these cases the control number is entered on the mobile computers touch screen.
Since web tickets are so easy to copy, the need for a verification system like this arose quite naturally; but with this system only one person can enter with each ticket.
Requirements for the Mobile Computers
Datalogic Memor and Datalogic Skorpio mobile computers are used in this application. Urban Sundin, Managing Director at Actor, says, It is important that the mobiles computers are flexible and simple, since the users are not experienced using them. When choosing a mobile computer, the requirements were that they should be simple, lightweight, wireless, have a memory function for the software, as well as a touch screen. All these features are found in the Datalogic Memor and the Datalogic Skorpio. The mobile computers are also connected through wireless LAN, so it is important that the arena has a good network connection. With this system anyone can reserve and pay for their tickets from absolutely wherever. It couldnt be easier, states Urban Sundin.
Actor is now busy installing this system at all kinds of event venues throughout Sweden.
