Muratec, the multifunction specialist company, has launched the MFX-1450 multifunctional system.

The MFX-1450 features has an 80 sheet ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) and offers a brisk output speed of 13 prints per minute with auto-duplex for double sided copying and printing as standard, saving time and paper.

The MFX-1450 benefits from the Muratecs groundbreaking NGP (Network Gateway Platform) technology, providing an out-of-the-box solution for network connectivity.

Muratec NGP are DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) compliant so they can automatically install and configure themselves onto a network. Muratec NGP technology allows the MFX-1450 to colour scan to network, FTP and e-mail. The versatile MFX-1450 can also perform Internet, desktop and walk-up faxing. NGP technology allows users to locate contacts on corporate directory servers because the MFX-1450 is LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) compliant.

Key to the ease of use for the MFX-1450 is the large backlit touchscreen. The display provides an easy, intuitive means of delivering digital documents to network folders, e-mail addresses or FTP sites. For scanning to folder the screen makes it easy to select the correct folder.

A standard QWERTY keyboard on the display allows users to enter e-mail addresses quickly and enables custom file names to be attached to documents. Lengthy jobs can be reduced to simple one-touch operations with macro programme keys. Customisation of the command keys on the default screen can make the whole procedure even more convenient. Users can also enter all settings from any current web browser.

For copying there are a range of high productivity features using the MFX-1450. The 8Mbyte (650 pages of text) standard memory can be used to store copy jobs and is upgradeable to 40Mbyte (3,370 pages of text).

The MFX-1450 has a 500 sheet A4 paper drawer as well as a 50 sheet bypass facility. An optional 500 sheet paper drawer can be added to give a total paper capacity of 1,050 sheets. Paper up to A4 in size and 128gsm in weight can be used with the MFX-1450. The flexible MFX-1450 will automatically highlight when consumable items are due for replacement before they run out for timely ordering.

As standard the MFX-1450 can be used as a networked GDI computer printer with colour scanning facility, a PCL5e/6 print controller option is also available. When scanning in colour in a networked environment, the versatile MFX-1450 can forward a colour scan to a colour output device for colour printing. Copy and print resolution is 600 by 600 dpi using LED print technology for high quality copy output.

With network security an increasing concern, the MFX-1450 has a number of security and access controls. A secure print feature means that the MFX-1450 will not output a secure print job until a user enters a PIN number at the control panel, to ensure confidential print output is not compromised.  A network administrator can also set up access controls based on PIN entry so users only have access to authorised functions, preventing general access to faxing, printing and so on.

For fax operation the MFX-1450 have a 33.3k bps modem for a fast 2 second per page transmission speed. ITU-T Super Group 3 standard is supported with JBIG compression. The broadcast fax facility can be used for <330 locations (<2000 optional).  A second line option is also available.

Commenting on the launch of the MFX-1450, Stewart Carroll, General Manager of Muratec Europe (UK) said, With the MFX-1450, Muratec demonstrates its leading position in the multifunctional market. Not only do this high-spec multifunctional combine four functions (copy, print, scan and fax) in one compact, easy to use device, it also offer complete network connectivity. As a plug and play solution the MFX-1450 can be network configured and ready to run, straight out the box! With the MFX-1450 customers get the most efficient and cost effective document imaging system available today.
