Hand Held Products' Mobile Computers Selected for Envisioning Centre at Microsoft Technology Centres Worldwide

Hand Held Products, a leader in image-based data collection systems for mobile applications, has announced that its Dolphin 7900 Mobile Computer, based on the Microsoft Windows Mobile 5 platform, has been selected to be featured at Microsoft Technology Centres (MTCs) worldwide.

The MTCs enable enterprise executives and independent software vendors to envision, architect and evaluate customised IT solutions before making an investment. Customers can participate in strategy briefings, architecture design sessions and proof-of-concept workshops to identify IT needs. The Dolphin 7900 is said to be the only rugged mobile computing device being deployed at the MTCs, and is used to demonstrate robust mobile applications for both retail and healthcare.

"Having Hand Held Products as an Alliance Member greatly enhances the value and experience the MTCs offer to customers," said John Mathieu, Senior Program Manager, Microsoft Technology Centre Alliance. "Their focus on applying image-based data collection and mobile computing technology to targeted vertical market applications, and their commitment to development on the Microsoft platform, makes them an integral component to our MTC strategy."

Hand Held Products' industrial-grade Dolphin 7900 is optimised for robust mobile data collection applications requiring real-time voice and data communications. Powered by Adaptus(R) Imaging 5.0, the 7900 features multi-functional data capture capabilities including linear and 2D barcode reading and digital image capture.

"The Microsoft Technology Centres are excellent tools that enable intimate strategic conversations with customers throughout the world," said Mark Bunney, Director of Strategic Alliances, Hand Held Products. "We view our relationship with Microsoft as a critical component of providing customers with tools to extend the capabilities of their businesses and advance possibilities of what can be done with mobile technology."
