SCOTS COMPANIES FLY THE FLAG AT MAJOR GLOBAL CONFERENCE 3GSM

Forty Scottish developers head for Barcelona alongside Wireless Innovation

Forty Scottish wireless and mobile specialist companies are heading for this years global gathering for the industry, the 3GSM conference, which opens in Barcelona tomorrow (Monday).

The companies, drawn from a wide range of disciplines within the fast-growing sector, will be at 3GSM to make contacts, do deals and develop their understanding of new market and product developments in one of the worlds fastest-growing technology sectors.

They will be supported by Wireless Innovation, Scotlands national initiative for wireless and mobile technology. Operated by Innovation Centres (Scotland )Ltd (ICS), Wireless Innovation plays a key role in providing business development, market intelligence and product development support to more than 130 companies across Scotland.

Wireless Innovation has been working directly with several companies to make sure they realise their potential at 3GSM, a vast four-day event which is attended by the leading players in the wireless and mobile marketplace.

The key aim for many of the companies will be to meet existing and potential clients, as well as to track market trends in a sector which continues to grow rapidly, said David Reilly, of Wireless Innovation.

We shall be supporting the companies, to make sure they meet the right people, find out whats going on in the industry globally, and how this might has an impact on their business. We shall also be showcasing technology on behalf of several smaller Scottish companies.

Wireless Innovation works with a broad range of companies across Scotland.  From small start-ups with a basic idea for a business, to established Scottish companies already selling products and services globally, the organisations client base covers developers involved in infrastructure, content and applications.

Some of the more exciting developments you will see at 3GSM this year from Scotland include:

The Miser service, a unique high street shopping aid providing locally redeemable discount and deal vouchers, direct to mobile.

Ryan McCann, MD of the Miser service commented We envisage 3GSM 2007 to be a catalyst for launching our prototype Miser Service. Weve had significant interest from the UK retail marketplace already and want to use the contacts we make at 3GSM to take our service to a much wider market. It will be good to see what other companies are doing and identify any real competition on an international level.

Traceall, specialists in the asset tracking industry are launching their 4-in-1 service at 3GSM 2007.  This real-time service allows companies to track temperature, location and time (and the correlation between these) for the Logistics, Risk Management, Food and Drink and Oil and Gas Industry; all in a black box not much bigger than a mobile phone!  Traceall have recently concluded a six-figure deal with one of the UK's largest freight companies, details to be announced at the show.

Forms 4 PDA, launching a sleek automated forms service for PDAs and smartphones at 3GSM, offers a real form of business convergence.  Using automated forms, this service speeds up the ability to communicate and transfer data within a business, securely, in line with individual CRM requirements.

Ian McCarley commented My business partner and I had looked for an application in our former jobs that could deliver this type of service, but there was nothing available.  From that starting point we saw a real opportunity for developing the Forms4PDA service.  We are delighted that we are able to launch the service at 3GSM through Wireless Innovation as we believe this is a fantastic show to make real contacts to help grow our business

Wireless Innovation enjoys partnership relationships with key organisations including BT, Nokia, Oracle, Cisco and T-Mobile. These relationships help Wireless Innovations client companies to get in front of major corporate players at an early stage of their development.

There are a great number of developments in wireless and mobile, with new products and applications reaching the market that will offer enormous opportunities from Scottish companies. 3GSM gives us all the opportunity to gain an unparalleled insight into whats happening out there in the market, added David Reilly.

We hope that 3GSM will bring Scottish companies more contacts, more ideas and above all, more deals.
