Brother is introducing four new mono laser printers aimed at the hospital environment all can print up to four different types of media at once, including self-adhesive labels, specimen pouches and A4 and A5 paper.
The HL-5200 series, offers additional lower tray options which can expand paper capacity up to 750 sheets and house the different media options often needed on busy wards.
All models in the HL-5200 series support a new higher yield toner, offering up to 7,000 A4 pages (at 5% coverage), as well as increased print speed of up to 28ppm and a high print resolution of up to 1200 x 1200dpi.
The range is as follows:
HL-5240 non-networked, entry-level model, with all of the features mentioned above with16MB memory (expandable to 528MB). 199.00+ vat.
HL-5240DN features as per HL-5240, with 32MB memory (expandable to 544MB), automatic duplex printing and network facility as standard. 249.00 + vat.
HL-5270DN features as per HL-5240DN with the benefit of a three colour LCD screen, and a 7,000 page yield toner as standard. 299.00 + vat.
HL-5280DW features as per HL-5270DN and is also wireless-ready. 349.00 + vat.
Consumables for this range are new and improved. The TN-3130 offers up to 3,500 A4 pages (at 5% coverage), the TN-3170 offers up to 7,000 A4 pages (at 5% coverage) and the DR-3100 drum unit runs at approx 25,000 A4 pages. This adds up to a low cost per copy of approximately 1.2p inc VAT.
As with all Brother mono laser products, drums and toners are separate. If one runs out, you dont have to replace both items simultaneously, saving you cash and the environment.
All models offer Brothers one year on-site warranty so any downtime will be minimised because the product does not have to be returned for repair.
And all machines in the range are TCO compliant, which means they have passed 50 tests covering ergonomics, energy consumption, emission levels and ecological soundness.
This HL-5200 series also supports barcode printing without having to invest in expensive SIMM or DIMM upgrades its simply a case of inputting the relevant information into the printer and producing barcodes of any size, in any direction with text and built-in checksum error digit correction.

Therefore, weve given this new range the option of a second tray, as there are some very obvious uses for it added paper capacity, but also to store various types of paper at one time.
She added: All but the entry level model are ready-networked, and weve gone for added simplicity of use with the two top models by offering a colour LCD screen.
