New energy saving multifunctional printers (MFPs) extend Canons black and white range, offering increased speed and functionality at competitive prices

Canon UK, world leader in digital imaging technology, has today announced the launch of five new devices to extend its black and white small office and small workgroup offering[1]: the Canon iR1018, iR1022A, iR1022F, iR1022i and iR1022iF.  These new devices will further strengthen Canons overall number one position both in the UK and across Western Europe, by brand, in the black and white MFP market for the first half of 2006.[2]   Offering space saving, compact footprints, this new range is aimed at small offices as well as small workgroups within SME and Corporate environments, and boasts a wealth of features intended to meet a broad range of business print requirements.

With demand for A4 multifunctional devices growing rapidly, this new range offers additional functionality, increased speed and competitive pricing.    The iR1018 has a print speed of 18 pages per minute (ppm) whilst the iR1022A, iR1022F, iR1022i and iR1022iF boast 22 ppm.  This range also offers the duplex function as standard enabling organisations to reduce their paper consumption by up to 40%, achieving environmental and cost savings.[3]  The introduction of a colour scanner improves the quality of scanned documents and saves the additional cost of a colour network scanner.  The send function, used as an effective business tool, allows scanned documents to be sent directly across a business network, to an email address, FTP site or database, simultaneously minimising the costs associated with hardcopy document distribution via post and fax, and aiding more efficient document archiving and retrieval.

Glen Mason, Head of Office Marketing, Canon UK & Ireland, states: By extending our offering with these five new devices, we aim to highlight our commitment to maintaining our number 1 position in this space.  Canon has developed competitively priced devices that aid business processes, ensure productivity and most importantly meet the needs of our customers.

Furthermore, this range adheres to current environmental standards by offering low warm up times and low energy consumption as they automatically switch to sleep mode when not in use. The production methods also ensure that lead and hazardous substances are prohibited from the manufacturing process making these devices more environmentally friendly.

Each device in the range has been designed for easy set-up and control, due to the suite of web management software tools available. This range is also compatible with Canon e-Maintenance service to ensure quick response times to service calls.

The Canon iR1018, iR1022A, iR1022F, iR1022i and iR1022iF are available now.
