Opticon, Japans foremost manufacturer of bar code based data collection devices has expanded its portfolio of Mobile Computers with the announcement of the PHL-7000 series of ruggedised solutions.
The PHL-7000 series, powered by Windows CE.NET 4.2 signals Opticons presence in the rugged mobile computing marketplace:
- Drop tested to 1.5 metres and with an IP rating of 54, the PHL-7000 is Opticons toughest device yet.
- Versions with built-in WiFi, Bluetooth and GPRS/GSM are available.
- All versions include 128 M RAM and 64M ROM as standard.
- Both SD and CF expansion slots are incorporated into the design of the PHL-7000, further increasing connectivity options and memory expansion possibilities.
Recognising that the success of a bar code system stands and falls on the ability of the bar code scanner to read the printed codes, Opticon has created the PHL-7000 with a choice of 3 scan engines; standard laser, long range laser and 2D CMOS Imager. Furthermore, changing scanning technology in the future should the application change will be straightforward, due to the modular nature of the engine installation. Likewise, a pistol grip can be added at any time.
Given that most applications require information to be keyed as well as scanned, the PHL-7000 is available with a choice of simple numeric biased keypad or full 43 key alphanumeric.
