Brother has won a contract to supply 230 Little Chef outlets with all-in-one machines that combine printer, fax, copier and scanner in one space saving device.

The UK's largest roadside restaurant chain turned to Brother to provide a fax and printing solution which would reduce its costs, save space and deliver operational benefits for the business.

Little Chef's existing IT set up meant it had separate fax and printers in its small restaurant offices. The Brother MFC-7225N combines those functions in one compact machine so emerged as the ideal solution for the company which serves 20 million customers every year.

Chris Andrewartha, IT director at Little Chef, said: "The Brother machines have significantly improved the effectiveness and efficiency of our IT operations. Speed is a major improvement - with our previous ink-jet printer taking staff 20 minutes to print all stocking information. The MFC-7225N prints 20 pages per minute so stock taking is now much less time consuming.

"Also, the printers come network-ready which means that our mobile regional development managers can hook up to them using their laptop when they are visiting a restaurant. Overall, there's less time and money wasted which is a great boost for the business."

The contract has meant that Little Chef has been able to consolidate its maintenance requirements into one service agreement, saving thousands of pounds.

Chris adds: "Our buying power with stationery suppliers has also increased. Due to consolidation of existing consumables, we are now able to negotiate improved discount rates."

The MFC-7225N has a suggested retail price of 249 (ex VAT).
