Shopper Assistant, the terminal for Shopevolution the self-scanning solution from Datalogic, is now based on Windows CE operating system and supports advanced wireless security standards.

Datalogic has announced that Shopper Assistant, the self-scanning terminal for the Shopevolution CRM solution for modern retailers, is now available with Microsoft Windows CE 4.2 .Net architecture and can support advanced wireless security standards.

The new compact and reliable terminal combines the speed and power of Intel X-Scale processor with Microsoft Windows 4.2 .Net operating system, and guarantees even more innovative, open and versatile hardware and software architecture.

This wireless Wi-Fi terminal enables fast and complete interaction with any standard Wi-Fi WLAN infrastructure. In particular, compared with the previous model, the I7252 Shopper Assistant can support the most advanced wireless security standards, including traditional WEP and the new Wi-Fi standard WPA. This gives retailers greater and more sophisticated levels of protection, in line with market standards, in terms of possible external RF intrusions in the network of the point of sale.

The new Shopper Assistant is also equipped with improved Li-ION battery consumption, so it is now possible to use the terminal for an entire day of sales from a single charge.

I7252 Shopper Assistant has the same design, dimensions and user interface (large colour display and six-programmable keys) as the previous model with a DOS operating system. This enables retailers to maintain the investment made in the pervious terminals.  In addition, the new Shopper Assistant is compatible with the cradle dispensers which may already be installed at the point of sale enabling retailers to use both models in the same supermarket with no difference in operation for their customers.

With Shopevolution 3.1, the latest version of the software solution for the I7252 Shopper Assistant, customers with a loyalty card who use this virtual assistant while shopping can see on the colour display personalised information such as current promotions and products, as well as a shopping list and information on the location of the chosen product.  While shopping, it is also possible to see the total cost of products purchased, the number of points accumulated and the loyalty gifts available.

I7252 is equipped with the Datalogic patented green spot for good read feedback directly where the customer tends to be looking on the bar code of the product itself.  Once the shopping is over, the customer avoids the queues by paying automatically at the reserved checkout, without needing to remove the products from the trolley.
