Punters enjoy World Cup action on large, high quality, wide angle display screens

3M Optical Systems today announced that its new Vikuiti(TM) rear projection window film is being trialled by a bar in Newcastle to show the football matches throughout the World Cup 2006.  This trial is being held to enhance the viewing experience for football fans during of one of the worlds most popular sporting events.

The 60 Vikuiti rear-projection film from 3M has been attached to both side and front windows of Bar 55 located in Newcastles city centre allowing passers-by on the high street the opportunity to catch World Cup coverage while out and about and ensuring supporters enjoying a drink outside do not miss a moment of their favourite teams in action.

I was very pleased to be offered a trial of 3Ms fantastically innovative film as it has offered the opportunity for us to broaden our audience reach considerably, said Bob Senior, owner of Bar 55, Newcastle. The side screen has captured a lot of attention and new business for its ability to be easily seen from long distances and all angles. The screen at the front window has also been a success with customers. Especially with the looming smoking ban, we feel that the prospect of having high quality display technology readily available and easily installed to allow viewing outside will encourage more customers to frequent our premises.

We were very excited to have our technology trialled in front of large audiences for such a well-known event as the World Cup, said Lloyd Cole, European Marketing Manager, 3M Optical Systems & Digital Signage. The film has a self-adhesive coating for easy attachment to any glass surface making it highly adaptable for use in a wide range of environments from shop fronts and car show rooms to hotel lobbies, health centre reception areas, tourist offices, exhibition stands, airports and train stations.

3Ms rear-projection film has the ability to create an eye-catching, attention-grabbing public display both indoors and outdoors. The screens produce clear, bright images, with rich colour rendition, superb brightness, high contrast, and excellent levels of definition and resolution. All this is combined with 180 degree viewability to ensure that the display is visible to customers both very close to, and far away from the window.
