The Barcode Warehouse records 37 per cent sales increase from e-commerce

Barcoding and logistics supplier, The Barcode Warehouse, is seeing sales soar for its e-commerce service, www.thebarcodewarehouse.co.uk, prompting a move to expand its premises to cope with demand. The service, which sells barcode equipment and consumables, has increased online sales by 37 per cent and added an average of 500 new customers per month in January-May 2006.

According to The Barcode Warehouse, more businesses are switching to online procurement to increase cost savings, and are looking to specialist suppliers with a strong telesales support division for the complete customer package. In response to demand, The Barcode Warehouse is making a 500,000 investment to add a further 613 metre square of sales and stock area.

Ross Lee, founder and chairman of The Barcode Warehouse, comments, "As the barcoding market matures, more businesses have the confidence to order online for cost efficiencies and to speed up the procurement process. We have fully embraced the power of the Internet, but havent forgotten the importance of providing telephone support for customers to talk to our advisors directly."

The e-commerce side of The Barcode Warehouse business started trading in September 2003 with under twenty products on offer. In less than three years, the company has expanded its e-commerce customer base by over 700 per cent and its product offering to over 5,800 SKUs from around 36 suppliers. Comparisons of monthly sales values at the end of 2003 with the start of 2006, sees an average increase of over 3000 per cent.
