Document Management, when you want it, how you want it but without the infrastructure costs or upfront investment

EASY SOFTWARE UK, Europes foremost supplier of integrated document management, workflow and archive solutions, has unveiled its Document Management On-Demand offering.

There is no doubt that an important shift is taking place in the way organisations want to purchase and supply software. The traditional model of application deployment, where the customer acquires a perpetual license and assumes responsibility for the softwares implementation and ongoing management, has many disadvantages for end users. Increasing dissatisfaction with the costs, complexities, and length of time that it takes to recognise value from their investments have pushed software buyers to demand alternative models of application delivery, such as Software on Demand.

Software on Demand is today an exploding market that is forecast to reach US$10.7B by 2009, (Source; IDC). Very few IT solutions are budgeted for in advance, save for example core business applications like payroll, HR and finance, said Andrew Graham (pictured), CEO of EASY SOFTWARE UK.  Despite their recognised potential, many valuable projects are held back by a lack of capital, both because budgets remain tight, or because they have emerged only once the budget for the current year has already been allocated.  Andrew continues. We are responding to a growing trend to offer our technologies On-Demand where the client pays per use/per transaction and the application is hosted externally. We offer a monthly fee which allows our clients to spread payments over time and in doing so overcome their budgetary issues whilst we increase our new and repeat business sales quickly and easily, and recognise revenue immediately.

One of the first customers to select the EASY On-Demand option is Anglian Water plc. EASY SOFTWARE understood what we were trying to achieve and recommended a hosted solution where our documents are stored remotely and we access them through a web client, said Richard Norton, HR Services Manager at Anglian Water.   We can now retrieve our documents simply and quickly, online from the comfort of our desk.  We look forward to the improvements in efficiency and productivity and the opportunity to further streamline our document processes.

As Software On-Demand rapidly gains popularity globally, most software vendors are responding with Software On-Demand versions of their on-site products and letting their customers pick which option they prefer. How well software vendors adapt will be a major competitive differentiator over the next few years. Andrew adds, On-Demand is gaining great momentum in the US, and UK software vendors cannot fail to have this on their radar screens.  Its a pretty brave company thats ignoring this trend altogether. We are delighted to take pole position in the document management On-Demand space and to have secured referenceable clients at this early stage.
