Intermec Inc. said today the Datalogic Group, with headquarters in Bologna, Italy, has become a member of Intermecs RFID Rapid Start program following its acquisition of PSC Inc., an original RFID Rapid Start licensee.

The Datalogic Group is a leading manufacturer of CCD and laser-based bar code readers, mobile computers and RFID systems. The Intermec Rapid Start program, which concluded Aug. 31, 2005, provides participants access to various portfolios of the intellectual property encompassed within Intermecs 150+ RFID patents. Although the Intermec Rapid Start Program is now closed, Datalogics acquisition of PSC triggered various provisions within the Rapid Start license agreement. As the parent of PSC, Datalogic now becomes an Intermec RFID licensee.

Datalogic joins 19 of the RFID industrys leading innovators that elected to license various portfolios of Intermec RFID patents made available to Rapid Start licensees. This community is already providing the market with state-of-the-art RFID equipment that is bringing the business benefits of RFID to supply chain operations around the world.

We are pleased with the extension of the Intermec RFID license to Datalogic, as this will provide us access to Intermecs current and future RFID technology innovations and simplify intellectual property issues around RFID to accelerate rollouts of this important technology, said Datalogic Vice Chairman and CEO Roberto Tunioli.
