25% increase in new mainframe licence revenue spawns new partnerships in Europe

Applications management specialist Macro 4 today announced it has signed agreements with MetaStore and Emerald Software to deliver mainframe solutions, services and applications management capabilities.  These are the first in a series of agreements that will see Macro 4 partner with channel organisations throughout Europe.

Macro 4 will partner with Metastore in France and the Benelux region whilst Emerald will work with Macro 4 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.  This marks a significant departure for Macro 4, which has previously handled all mainframe business directly with clients.

The new partnerships have been driven by the continued strength of the mainframe market and consistent demand for mainframe management products and specialist skills.  David Chalmers, Business Development director, Macro 4 explains: The popular expectation that the mainframe market would die off has simply been proven wrong people are still investing in mainframes and want to get better and better ROI.    Consequently we are seeing the need to mix our product specialism with local expertise.  We have seen significant growth over 25% in new licence fees - in our mainframe sales and nowhere more so than in the established mainframe markets of North America and Western Europe.

Our new partners will work alongside our existing direct sales teams.  All new business will be handled via our partners whilst Macro 4 account teams will handle existing customers, so there will be no conflict of interest.  We have aggressive, six figure targets for our channel partners in the first year, but we are confident that these targets can be met we chose our partners specifically so they could hit the ground running and provide a valuable expansion of our zSeries and iSeries capabilities in these countries.
