CipherLab has added the CPT-9500 Series industrial portable data terminal to its range of wireless solutions. According to the company, the new 9500 Series uses a fast Intel 400 MHz processor and has up to 64 MB of memory. At the core of the new device is the Microsoft Pocket PC 2003 2nd edition operating system, which gives users all the benefits associated with this easy to use platform.

The timing of the launch of this new product has meant that Cipherlab reportedly has been able to incorporate the latest developments, including new chipset integration, allowing them to increase efficiency and performance over older less reliable devices available in the marketplace. This has meant it has been able to leapfrog the competition in the market both in terms of unsurpassed performance and price says Cipherlab.

The company believes that if there was a gap in their current product range, it has been filled by the introduction of the new 9500 Series. The last piece of the jigsaw has dropped into place as far as the current product range is concerned, said Cipherlabs Altaf Sadique. It has been carefully developed to provide users with a robust product that is reliable in its data capture and exchange. This has been achieved by including a higher capacity rechargeable Li-ion battery that enables longer sustained use and eliminates data being lost at crucial times.

The large 3.5-inch colour trans-reflective TFT screen has an LED backlight and touch panel. In addition to the capabilities provided by operating on the Windows platform, the 9500 Series is programmable in Visual C++ and Visual BASIC. It also includes a variety of bar code readers including long range laser and 2D imager, together with 13.56 MHz RFID.

Other features include IP64 seal protection for greater durability and wireless networking via Bluetooth, 802.11b and GSM/GPRS. The ergonomic design supported by a pistol grip allows comfortable use for longer working hours.

Cipherlab anticipates strong demand for the 9500 Series from resellers, systems integrators and VARs in the UK and across Europe, as it aims to grow market share by delivering quality products at low prices. Cipherlab also plans to use the launch of the 9500 Series to build on its reputation for providing excellent partner support through technical and maintenance assistance, training and partner days and online bulletins, literature, manuals and software updates.
