Unitech Europe, the EMEA head office for Unitech Electronics expands its PDA product range with the PA980, entering the Ultra rugged market space.
The PA980 answers the demand for robustness and low-temperature resistance and is designed for maximum durability and ruggedness. The Ultra rugged PA980 is IP67 compliant which means it is totally dust protected as well as protected against the effects of temporary immersions in water up to one meter. Furthermore the Ultra rugged PA980 comes with an intelligent internal heater system that allows the unit to be used in extreme applications where the operating temperature can go as low as -30C!!
Extreme testing at several end-user applications has revealed that the PA980 can be used in high demanding, even condensing environments like in Spain, where the unit is used in an application where temperatures fluctuate from -30C in the freezer to 40C outdoors.
Equipped with industrial and robust components such as non-corrosive screws, sealed connectors, protected touch-screen makes the Ultra rugged PA980 ideal for mobile use into a variety of harsh environments that include rainy-, under water submersions -, high condensing- as well as freezing cold environments.
The PA980 offers users a 22-key keypad which has high visibility backlit keys allowing operating the terminal with gloves and in dim light conditions. The keyboard click will give maximum operator feedback in every operation. Whereas the double cell battery pack (7.4V 1700mAH) supports operations up to 12 hours in ambient environments and up to four hours at -30C. The unit can be equipped with an optional screw-on/fit-tight gun-grip with internal battery (7.4v 1700mAh) increasing the units autonomy and ergonomics.
Depending on the application, the user has the freedom to choose either a standard laser scanner or a long range laser scanner, which can have a reading distance up to 5 meters. The Ultra rugged PA980 offers flexibility and on-demand integration of technologies to realize your WLAN or WWAN by offering a standard PCMCIA type II slot. Based on a Microsoft Windows CE 4.2 operating system, the new Ultra rugged PA980 takes advantage of familiar user interfaces and wide software application support.
With the release of the Ultra rugged PA980, Unitech designed a PDA, at a very competitive price, specifically suitable for mobile use in applications such as cold storage, transportation of frozen goods, food industry, forestry and shipyard container port as well as many others.
