UK LAUNCH OF APRESTA WILL PROVIDE SECURE WIRELESS ACCESS TO A WIDE VARIETY OF ENTERPRISE INFORMATION

Powerful solution will deliver anytime/anywhere access via any mobile device to enterprise data, applications, and business processes

Saratoga Systems, a global supplier of enterprise software solutions to the mid-to-large enterprise market, announced today the UK availability of its Apresta data access solution. Apresta, the first wholly configurable Multi-Channel Access Gateway (MAG), will enable enterprises to provide their mobile workers real-time access - via any browser-equipped device - to multiple back-end systems, including CRM, ERP and financials.

By providing real-time access to this critical enterprise data, mobile workers will be able to manage accounts and opportunities, check inventory, track shipments and customer support, and verify billing status from a broad range of wireless handheld devices. Apresta currently supports an extensive array of today's wireless devices - including BlackBerry, PocketPC, Smartphone, TREO and HP iPAQ - and all wireless networks.

"By using Apresta, mobile employees can access all sorts of mission critical information that will allow them to respond very quickly to customer enquiries and requests," said Guy Tweedale, Managing Director, Northern Europe, Saratoga Systems. "In a sales environment, for example, mobile employees will now be able to benefit from seamless and secure access to ERP, CRM and other back office applications. With Apresta, BlackBerry devices can suddenly be used for a lot more than just email."

By allowing access to such business-critical data, Apresta will enable mobile sales teams to act on opportunities more quickly, and to make more informed decisions whilst in the field. At the same time, problems associated with offline modifications to important data is alleviated, since any changes to the data residing on the company database are recorded in real-time.

Common queries, such as price, stock levels, availability, where an item is in the shipping system, and current/outstanding customer concerns will now be available to in real-time for anyone working out in the field. In fact, mobile workers will be able to access any data that is available on the company intranet, or that resides within an ODBC client database.

Apresta users benefit from a quick and cost effective implementation, since the software's unique architecture can access complex enterprise data without any programming; administrators need only a two-day training course to configure the software and users can be up and running immediately. As such, Apresta can help any enterprise customer secure the fastest and greatest possible return on their wireless technology investment.

Because Apresta is based on a powerful Web architecture and core technology that has been widely used by major Fortune 500 customers, its system architecture is proven, open, and secure. The software uses an ultra-thin client that can run on any handheld device, and yet still offers robust security from authentication to transmission to data access. Once permissions have been set by the network administrator, there is no need for any further internal management of data access.

Since mobile workers can use virtually any browser-equipped device to interrogate the ODBC database directly, the need to interact with any particular application is removed. In fact, although several ERP and CRM systems now boast modules that claim to allow wireless access, only Apresta will allow access to such a wide variety of data from a single point of entry, and without the need to log on/off to different systems, using multiple passwords.
