Printronix, a leading integrated supply-chain printing solutions manufacturer, today introduced patented MP2 radio frequency identification (RFID) SmartTM encoding technology, the industry's first designed specifically to EPCglobal(tm) Generation 2 (Gen 2) encoding specifications. Printronix leverages this technology in its SmartLine product families and introduces a six-inch RFID printer as well. With this, the new SL5000r(tm) MP2 and SLPA7000r MP2 become the first RFID printer and printer applicator families designed to Gen 2 encoding specifications.

Printronix's MP2 RFID Smart encoding technology includes an optimized Gen 2 design to support the widest range of Gen 2 tags while offering continued support of EPC Class 0, 0+, 1 and Philips UCode 1.19 protocols. For global compliance, the MP2 can switch frequencies with regional upgrade kits.
Printronix offers advanced ultra-high frequency (UHF) RFID printing solutions for today's standards, giving users a migration path to tomorrow's technology. The SL5000r MP2 and SLPA7000r MP2 encode and print different protocols, label sizes and inlay designs that have emerged from supply-chain implementations. Offering real-time XML printer and job control, along with XML forms printing and EPC encoding, the SL5000r MP2 and SLPA7000r MP2 are the most advanced XML-based RFID print and control platforms on the market. Printronix's SmartLine family also features Unicode with TrueType font support for worldwide compliance requirements and local printing needs.
Through its network of integrators and technology partners, Printronix has been selected by most of the top consumer packaged goods companies and RFID adopters to help them implement RFID printing solutions. Early users of the MP2 technology say Printronix provides them with easy configuration and versatile media throughput, citing the MP2's Gen 2 design and advanced RFID calibration.
