SPECTRUM XF -- THE NEW, EXTRA-FAST PRODUCTION SCANNER FROM BWE BELL + HOWELL -- SHIPS OCTOBER 3

Bwe Bell + Howell's new production scanner that performs up to 30 percent faster than previous models will begin shipping on October 3.

Spectrum XF includes sophisticated SharpShooter(TM) camera technology that supports faster speeds and Kofax's VirtualReScan(R) (VRS) 4.0 Plus image enhancement with Auto Color Detect -- onboard. The scanner is ideal for high-volume document imaging in the financial services, insurance, service bureau, government and healthcare industries.

Fast and reliable, Spectrum XF is available in three main speeds of 140, 120 and 90 pages per minute (reflected in the new model numbers: 8140D, 8120D and 8090D), with optional color and imprinting on all models and optional simplex scanning on the 8090 model. In Europe, bitonal models range from $19,945 to $42,520, and color models range from $21,245 to $47,245, depending on selected speeds and features.

Spectrum XF boasts a daily duty cycle of 60,000 pages and is up to 20 percent faster than most scanners in its class, providing improved throughput performance for both capture and forms processing users.

Made in the United States, Spectrum XF is compliant with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. Making it accessible to users with disabilities, the scanner features Audible Tone Assistance and a quick reference guide in Braille for blind or visually impaired operators, and technical support over a TTY (Text Telephone) line for the audibly impaired.

Best Combination of Features: Performance Without Compromise

Spectrum XF features the industry's most advanced camera, the SharpShooter TriLinear 7.5K CCD, which provides sharp images at faster speeds, capturing images at 600 dpi optical resolution at a rate of 40 megapixels per second.

Spectrum XF scans documents in color as efficiently as it does in grayscale or bitonal. Its onboard Auto Color Detect capabilities allow users to scan in color at rated speed.

The scanner's accelerated bitonal speeds, combined with improved image quality, onboard VRS image enhancement and Advanced Electronic Color Dropout -- which allows users to drop out any color and not just the standard red, green or blue -- deliver superior optical character recognition (OCR), intelligent character recognition (ICR), and barcode recognition rates for forms processing applications.

Spectrum XF is the only scanner on the market to feature an onboard VRS 4.0 Plus implementation. A VRS board built into the scanner begins document processing before the image reaches the PC, allowing the scanner to maintain its rated speed, even with advanced image enhancement features turned on. In contrast, scanners that do not have an onboard VRS implementation and rely on VRS software alone can compromise throughput when using many of the same VRS features.

Maximum Productivity Over the Life of the Scanner

Spectrum XF is the only scanner on the market to feature Ultrasonic Multifeed Detection with "ignore by size" functionality, so envelopes and document attachments such as taped photographs and receipts are easily scanned without being misinterpreted as double-feeds or requiring the user to rescan an entire batch.

Spectrum XF works with ImageControls, ISIS or TWAIN drivers to interface with any scanning application. The scanner's consumable parts, such as user-replaceable skimmer and separator rollers and user-replaceable lamps, last longer than those of any other scanner in its class. Each scanner is backed by a one-year, onsite warranty in the United States.
