RICOH INTRODUCES COLOUR TO HIGH VOLUME RANGE

Increasing demand for the use of colour in documents is putting pressure on print shops and CRDs to provide a flexible range of high quality, professional colour solutions. Ricoh has responded to market demands by introducing colour to its high volume range, with the launch of the Aficio Color 5560.

The new device builds on the previous success of Ricoh's high volume mono devices, producing outputs of up to 60ppm mono and 55ppm colour with a maximum paper capacity of 7,400 sheets.

Providing a solution to companies' growing colour requirements, the Aficio Color 5560 boasts Fiery's E-7000 controller which offers an unrivalled range of utilities, including accurate colour calibration, allowing users to adjust the value of colour to create pantone matches. Such features benefit all users, most notably PostScript and PDF oriented environments.

The new machine is also the first to enable CRD and print-for-pay environments to create bespoke, professional finishing solutions using a wide range of options from market leading manufacturers.

For example, GBC's Streampunch increases productivity by combining punching and printing in one single process, accommodating almost any common wire-binding style. Coupled with Plockmatic's booklet maker, users can create professional documents in very short timeframes.

In addition, the Aficio Color 5560's compact design boasts one of the smallest footprints on the market for a model of its capability, allowing customers to maximise the use of floorspace available. Both its space saving capabilities and production speeds can be further enhanced by connecting two machines together. Resulting in outputs of 120ppm mono and 110ppm colour, the combined device enables users to benefit from some of the highest speeds available without requiring the floorspace or high costs associated with some of their competitors.

Unlike traditional high speed colour machines, the Aficio Color 5560 also requires no clearance for cooling, therefore allowing the machine to be placed up against a wall.

"Following the success of Ricoh's high volume mono devices, the development of a colour engine for the same market was a natural progression," commented product manager Eddie Hall. "Our strong relationship with market leading manufacturers such as GBC, Plockmatic and Fiery, coupled with Ricoh's extensive lightweight production and colour experience, means that the Aficio Color 5560 provides strong competition for the likes of Canon and Konica-Minolta in the high volume arena."
