RICOH MFD TO COUNTER ENTERPRISE OBJECTIONS TO COLOUR PRINTING

Ricoh UK has today announced the launch of the Aficio 3260C, a colour capable multifunctional device developed specifically to overcome the hurdles that enterprises experience when deploying colour solutions - print security / control and cost.

The Aficio 3260C safeguards information by using the existing Windows network login infrastructure to restrict unauthorised access and limit the use of colour. This facility not only helps businesses to determine users' behaviour but also to control the types and volumes of documents that can be printed.

"One of the greatest concerns for businesses is that by introducing colour, employees will be able to abuse the facilities," comments Eddie Hall, product manager with Ricoh UK. "Uncontrolled access to colour is going to be costly for any organisation as they foot the bill for everything from accidental colour prints through to employees printing off holiday photos. This has certainly been an issue in the past, but the software development behind Ricoh's current colour office MFDs, including the new 3260C, provides IT managers and administrators far more control over access rights and subsequently colour print expenditure."

With information security an increasing concern for many organisations, Ricoh can also offer a sophisticated Data Overwrite Unit to eliminate the risk of information leaks, erase and encrypt temporary data on the device's Hard Disk Drive, boosting data security and ensuring peace of mind for users and managers alike.

The new 3260C can produce output up to 45ppm in full colour and 60ppm in black and white, allowing businesses with 'print on demand' requirements for presentations, sales and marketing collateral and bespoke stationery to reduce their dependence on outsourcing. To further support this high speed output, a range of finishing options are available including a 3,000 finisher, 50 or 100 sheet stapler and a booklet maker.
