Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. (Brocade) (Nasdaq: BRCDE) announced today that it has launched the Brocade Tapestry Fabric Partner Programme. The programme has been specifically developed for partners selling the new Brocade Tapestry family of products including Brocade Tapestry Application Resource Manager (ARM) and Brocade Tapestry Wide Area File Services (WAFS) and provides these partners with the tools to capitalise on the increasing demand for intelligence in the infrastructure.
According to recent figures from IDC, servers (89 percent) and storage (87 percent) are the most associated technologies with Dynamic IT (defined by IDC as IT designed to provide efficient, high-performance IT capability that effectively supports the rapid pace of business change). With the Tapestry family of application infrastructure solutions, Brocade offers solutions that optimise the utilisation of server and storage resources. The Brocade Tapestry Fabric Partner Programme complements the companys existing Fabric Partner Programme, which offers a broad range of education courses and tool, sales training and support, designed to assist our partners in selling the industry-leading portfolio of Brocade SilkWorm Storage Area Network (SAN) switches and directors.
Our Tapestry products are aimed to help customers address the challenges of improving service delivery and resource management, said Barbara Spicek, Director, Partner Sales, Brocade EMEA and Latin America. We have seen significant interest from our channel since we launched the Brocade Tapestry family in June of this year. The new partner programme is designed to equip our channel partners with the tools to capitalise on the increasing demand for intelligence in the infrastructure. Its a win-win situation for everyone.

The Tapestry family of products consists of:
Tapestry Application Resource Manager (ARM)
As enterprise customers increasingly move to higher-density and bladed server computing environments to consolidate their resources, they need efficient shared storage architectures to improve data access and management. However, the increase in server and application count tends to increase the operational costs associated with provisioning, allocating, and managing the server, software, and storage resources that are linked to enterprise applications. To support a new level of operational efficiency, the Tapestry ARM solution provides an innovative approach to the management and dynamic allocation of application resources. We believe Tapestry ARM uniquely automates and manages the complex relationships between server hardware, operating system images, application software, and data and storage resources ultimately lowering operating cost through automated and rapid deployment, provisioning, and assignment of servers to applications. Within a SAN environment, the solution is designed to reduce initial server, software, and storage provisioning as well as follow-on reprovisioning from hours to as little as a few minutes.
Tapestry Wide Area File Services (WAFS)
The Tapestry WAFS solution enables file sharing over a WAN with LAN-like performance, addressing the complexity, compliance, and cost challenges of organisations with remote offices by enabling centralised management and protection of data files. Instead of maintaining and backing up file servers outside of the data centre, administrators can install a central Tapestry WAFS core appliance in the data centre and an edge appliance at each remote site. The resulting solution is designed to deliver high-performance file access to remote locations while ensuring that the data remains safely stored on file servers in the central data centre. The improved consolidation and control of files helps to manage storage investment and utilisation while greatly simplifying data backup, recovery and other management tasks. In addition, Brocade Tapestry WAFS offers native integration with the Windows Server 2003 infrastructure and the rich set of storage technologies enabled by the Windows Server platform, and it provides the ability to deliver data over the WAN using key security features inherent in the Windows Server 2003 platform.
