Tandberg Data ASA (Oslo: TAD.OL), the leading data storage company, today unveiled the worlds smallest rackmount LTO tape autoloader, the Tandberg 1U LTO2 StorageLoader. It offers incredibly high LTO2 capacity and performance, as well as advanced data management features, in a compact, 1U low-profile design. The revolutionary LTO StorageLoader tape automation solution delivers up to 3.2TB compressed storage capacity and a transfer rate of up to 173 GB/hr by incorporating Tandberg Datas recently launched half-height 420LTO tape drive.
The Tandberg 1U LTO2 StorageLoader is the only 1U LTO autoloader available with removable magazines, which sets it apart from existing rackmount autoloaders. Its highly modular design utilises the reliable Ultra 160 SCSI/LVD interface.
The product has capacity for up to eight data cartridges, stored in two removable magazines holding four cartridges each, ensuring safe and easy loading of tape media and transport for off-site storage. An industry first, the tape drive, power supply, magazines and fans are all field-replaceable units (FRUs), without removing the autoloader from the rack, thereby reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO) and minimising downtime.
The unique design of the Tandberg 1U LTO2 StorageLoader includes multilingual-supported, web-based remote management as a standard feature. Maintenance, system monitoring and system commands can be performed remotely through a standard web browser, allowing administrators to conveniently monitor, control, configure and diagnose the 1U LTO2 StorageLoader from anywhere in the world. The same functions can also be performed locally through the easy-to-use LCD panel on the unit. For faster inventory scanning, it is also available with a barcode reader.

The Tandberg 1U LTO2 StorageLoader is the second member of Tandberg Datas StorageLoader modular-automation product family that offers a unique cartridge-load design, high capacity, superior performance and advanced data management features. The Tandberg StorageLoader family is also offered with DLT VS160 tape technology and will ultimately incorporate future half-height drive technologies for higher storage capacities.
