SonicWALL Is Leading Unit Vendor In Western European UTM Security Appliance Market

SonicWALL, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNWL),a leading provider of integrated security, productivity and mobility solutions, today announced it holds the leadership position for unit shipments of Unified Threat Management (UTM) security appliances in Western Europe, according to results recently released by IDC in its 1Q05 Western European Quarterly Security Server Appliance Tracker.

In a buoyant market that showed security appliance revenue growth of 21.2% and unit shipments growth of 18.8% (with close to 95,000 units shipping) compared to the corresponding quarter of 2004 SonicWALL was singled out as the leading unit vendor in the UTM category, following its first full quarter as a UTM vendor. In terms of unit market share for the total Western European security appliance market SonicWALL was named third behind Cisco and Juniper.

SonicWALL and its European channel partners have worked very hard over the past twelve months to create a sustained challenge in the market by providing powerful, easily managed unified threat management capabilities that are accessible to businesses of all sizes, said Matt Medeiros, president and chief executive officer at SonicWALL. This achievement underscores the growing popularity of SonicWALLs gateway threat management technology as a most effective solution to a worldwide problem.

New application-layer security bundle

SonicWALL also announced that it has released a unified threat management security bundle for European users, making application layer scanning for Internet threats even more affordable and easy to buy. SonicWALLs new Comprehensive Gateway Security Bundles combine a deep packet inspection TZ 170 series appliance with a specially-priced subscription to SonicWALLs Gateway Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware and Intrusion Prevention Service.
