Alliance Pharmacy (formerly Moss Pharmacy), the UK retail pharmacy business of Alliance UniChem, has commenced the rollout of advanced branch EPoS and pharmacy management systems across the companys 878 pharmacies in the UK. By the end of the rollout over 1,700 Datalogic Heron Bar Code Scanners will be installed and in use.
Alliance Pharmacy is the UKs third largest pharmacy chain providing dispensing, health advice and pharmacist-led support services.
In selecting the Datalogic Heron, a number of alternative scanners were evaluated. Doug OConnor, IT Project Manager at Alliance Pharmacy, said: We chose the Heron because we found that it offered very high levels of performance. It gives high read rates on poorly printed and contrasted barcodes. To date the Herons have proved to be extremely durable out in the field.
