Video Conferencing Joins the Internet

Until now, conferencing systems based on H.323 video standards have been unable to deliver high quality audio and video in an Internet environment along with cross-platform capabilities and high levels of security. The solution is a software download which enables a video conference to join an emeeting with people using Marratech on their laptops and PCs.

Said the companys chief strategy officer, Magnus Hedberg: "Web collaboration is beginning to dominate the global conferencing market, but users are naturally concerned about security and the ability to work in a platform independent environment. This often means expensive legacy video equipment sitting idle in the boardroom as staff prefer to shift their conferencing needs to their laptops and the Internet.

"With our H.323 kit, a video conference can be brought into a Marratech web meeting with all participants sharing high quality speech and video."

The solution will be seen for the first time at the Wainhouse CSP Summit and Conferencing4Business in Berlin on 19 / 21 April. Meanwhile, extensive testing with a range of video equipment products will continue prior to its launch later this year.
