Datalogic Appoints New Managing Director for UK

Datalogic, Europe's largest manufacturer of barcode readers and portable data collection terminals, announced today the appointment of Paul Duggan to the position of managing director of Datalogic UK. Paul brings with him a wealth of experience from his previous position of seven years as director of sales for Symbol Technologies UK.

With much of his background being in the retail industry, Duggan offers sound knowledge and established contacts from within this sector. With this, Duggan will assist in Datalogic's growth plans for 2005 in becoming a more established brand and provider of mobile computing and e-business solutions for the retail industry and other sectors including distribution, manufacturing, logistics and hospitality. In addition, Duggan will assist in strengthening Datalogic's partner relationships and its growth strategy for the UK and Europe.

Commenting on his new role, Paul Duggan said: "Datalogic has grown from strength to strength over the past few years and I'm delighted to be joining at such an exciting time. I look forward continuing the momentum of success and to working with the team to devise further strategies for growth."

During his role at Symbol Technologies, Duggan sold the first self-scanning solutions to three leading supermarkets. Previous to Symbol, Duggan worked as business development manager for DataChecker and in management roles at tier one retailer organisations.

Duggan's predecessor, Ugo Sogaro, has moved into the role of director of strategic accounts where he will be focusing on creating relationships with targeted organisations in specific vertical sectors.
