Mobile computing specialist, Eastern Data has today announced the acquisition of the 1,000,000 Irish computer company DSR Systems Limited. DSR was a major competitor to Eastern Data as one of the leading providers of mobile solutions to the Irish market. Its solutions include route accounting / van sales and field sales data capture.
The acquisition enables Eastern Data to greatly expand its customer base and strengthen its position in Ireland, and supports its aggressive growth plan. It will also provide Eastern Data with additional mobile computing technical expertise in a number of areas, including Bluetooth and GPRS communications. DSR will be integrated into Eastern Datas Dublin based company, Portable Software Solutions (PSS) offering an immediate reduction in overheads.
Our Group target is to double in size over the next 2 to 3 years to become a much larger player in the mobile market. To achieve this we are aiming for rapid organic growth backed up by complementary acquisitions. DSR was a perfect fit for this strategy. It brought to PSS a good customer base with recurring revenues and high quality staff. Following the acquisition, the Eastern Data Group now employs 41 people, of which 17 are based in Ireland and the remainder in the UK.
